Unlike so many cities, Thessaloniki never sleeps. Even during the darkest hours of the night there is always something happening, the lights are always on somewhere and you can always find an open convenience store. It is partly why it is one of the safest cities to explore and roam around in any time of the day or night. 

There are so many events in the city that when you arrive you might be sharing Aristotle’s Square with a musical concert, an exhibition, gathering or festive seasonal entertainment. A few metres from your door you can visit the famous Olympion Cinema, whose halls host the lion’s share of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival each November, where you can even meet and talk to the actors and directors as well as see their inspiring films. 

There are 10s of bars and venues that host live music of all genres, from contemporary rock, pop, jazz and blues to more eastern and the popular Greek bazouki music, many in the Ladadika area opposite the port. In Thessaloniki we stay out until the sun rises the following day, until the coffee shops are open, because entertainment really matters to us!
