TASTEMORE

For centuries Thessaloniki was home for an unusual harmony of cohabiting populations from all around South-Eastern Europe and beyond. It can still be seen in its layers of architecture, but also in its cuisine. Whether you want something quick and snacky such as our famous gyros (sliced meat) or souvlaki sandwhich, a whole selection of sweet and savoury pies, or you want to dine out in style in a gourmet restaurant there are thousands of choices, literally! Greece has a proud wine tradition too, so there’s no missing out on anything that you could wish to enjoy. In fact per capita Thessaloniki has the most number of bars in the whole Balkan Peninsula.

There are a huge variety of syrupy sweets that go way back, amongst a whole range of newly developed sweet recipes from many of the city’s entrepreneurial bakeries that settle for nothing better than excellence.
